Assisted Living Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? We’re here to help. Explore some frequently asked questions below and contact us if your question isn’t here.
What’s the difference between Assisted Living and Independent Living?
We offer Independent Living for older adults who can still live independently and want a safe, maintenance-free living environment with access to Riley Crossing’s services and resources when needed. Assisted Living is for those who need an elevated level of personal care and assistance. Assisted Living can offer a minimal amount of assistance, to a full array of services, all without having to move apartments.
How would I know if I needed Enhanced Care vs. Assisted Living?
There’s not a simple or exact science to when you need Enhanced Care. You may choose Enhanced Care over Assisted living if you wanted a lower staff to resident ratio. Enhanced Care may be a better option financially if you’re a la carte personal care charges were more than Enhanced Care costs. If you have more complex care needs or heavier cares (2-person transfers, high chronic care needs, higher medical needs without having daily skilled nursing needs), it may be better to consider Enhanced Care over Assisted Living, even though you can get all of the same care in Assisted Living apartment homes. You may also consider Enhanced Care if you or a loved one has: Exceeded a Medicare-paid rehabilitation stay but needs more care before returning home, need to give their caregiver a break from caregiving, need for a peaceful, supportive environment for hospice and end-of-life care.
What types of activities do you offer?
Our programming and activities are specially designed to engage a senior’s mind, body, and spirit.
Our mind activities include games, discussion groups, outings, happy hours, and more! Riley Crossing will offer daily programming that helps our community stay physically active with chair yoga, walking clubs, and much more. For residents that like to get in touch with their inner spirit, we provide musical programs, classes, and a variety of religious offerings.
Additionally, we regularly plan fun and engaging activities outside of the community, such as a trip to local parks for a barbeque lunch or a scenic bus ride tour. There’s always something to look forward to!
What is the average age of residents in Assisted Living?
While age varies by each community, in general, our residents are in their late 70’s to mid-80’s.
What is included in the costs for Assisted Living?
Take a look at our Senior Living Pricing page to see what is included in the monthly rent.
How quickly can you help me move in?
We work with each family to support their needs as best we can, including accommodating urgent move-ins when possible. Residents in Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Enhanced Care receive a full care assessment prior to moving in, which helps our care team develop his or her Individualized Plan. In some cases, a move-in can occur in as little as a day or so.
Can we move in as a couple?
Yes! At Riley Crossing, couples can live together in their own apartment surrounded by their familiar belongings. Double occupancy fees may apply.
